CNU has been selected for the Secondary Battery Specialization University Support Project organized by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.
The university, evaluated on its talent development capabilities and plans regardless of region and type, will receive 3.5 billion KRW annually for four years, totaling 14 billion KRW, including a 200 million KRW contribution from Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Through this project, CNU aims to supply glocal experts to local industries, create a virtuous and sustainable new secondary battery recycling material industry, and establish a training system to produce excellent academic personnel.
Additionally, the university plans to create a new interdisciplinary major in recycling materials and operate micro-tracks in cooperation with related departments.
Professor Kim Jae-kook, Head of the Project Group, stated, “This project selection will significantly help CNU establish itself as a center for regional new industry development.”
